Casey McCormack was born and raised in Rockaway Beach, New York. She attended the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, receiving a B.S. in Political Science and History in 2012. During her time at the University of Scranton, Ms. McCormack was involved in various honor societies including the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society, the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society and the Phi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society. After graduation, Ms. McCormack went on to attend the University of Miami School of Law and Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science (RSMAS), obtaining both a Juris Doctor and Masters of Professional Science in Marine Affairs & Policy in only three years. Ms. McCormack was admitted to the Florida Bar in November 2015 and is currently a candidate for admission to the New York State Bar.
During her time at the University of Miami, Ms. McCormack traveled extensively throughout Europe, Central America and Southeast Asia studying comparative international environmental law and policy.
Ms. McCormack joined SG in 2016 and her practice areas currently include both litigation and transactional work. She is currently a member of the American Bar Association, Miami-Dade Bar Association and Dive Bar Association.
In 2017, Ms. McCormack’s article “How Congress & SCOTUS Have Failed the American Seaman: A Modern Analysis of Obtaining “Seaman” Status Under the Jones Act & the United States Supreme Court’s 2014 Denial of William S. Dize” will be published in the USF Maritime Law Journal.
